The Osprey is a newsletter based in Shoreline, Wash., focused first on news in Shoreline, as well as our neighbors to the north, south, east and (sometimes) west. We’re presently working on our first batch of stories — starting with a look at the Shoreline City Council election! — with more on the way.

I’m David Mendez, your friendly neighborhood newsman and Shoreline resident. I’m a reporter by trade; I’ve worked in small towns and big cities, and I’ve covered everything from chalk art festivals to waterfront development to national elections. I love writing about the communities I live in and the people who live in them, and that spirit is central to The Osprey.

Here at The Osprey, we’ll have reporting on local elections, city council decisions, school board meetings, neighborhood events, personality and business profiles and anything else that we think is interesting — and what we think folks would like to know.

If you’ve got news tips, ideas for coverage or questions, please email me at [email protected]. This is our community — I’m just here to write about it.

See you soon.

Editor, The Osprey
