The first batch of ballots for Washington’s Aug. 4 primary election have been processed, and so far in Washington’s 32nd Legislative District, the incumbents — and the familiar names — are faring well.
Incumbent State Senator Jesse Salomon holds a narrow lead over fellow Democrat and State House Rep. Cindy Ryu, 42.51% to 41.57% — a difference of 101 votes. Local businessman Ira McBee is in a distant third, with 15.7% of the vote so far.
Shoreline Councilman Keith Scully is currently ahead in the race for Ryu’s open seat in the House, with 34.1% of the vote. Political newcomer and longtime federal antitrust attorney Danica Noble trails at 22.75%, followed by business owner Lisa Rezac (16.99%), engineer Chris Bloomquist (10.42%), with Edmonds City Council members Will Chen (8.24%) and Jenna Nand (7.34%) at the bottom of the race.
Incumbent State Rep. Lauren Davis is handily defending the district’s second seat in the House, currently holding 73.11% of the vote against Imraan Siddiqi, the civil rights advocate and executive director of CAIR-WA, with 24.71%.

According to King County, about 20.23% of the 32nd District’s registered voters have had their ballots counted so far.
Results will continue to trickle in over the next two weeks. The top two vote getters in each race, regardless of preferred political party, will continue on to the Nov. 3 general election.
