State Senate candidate and outgoing State Rep. Cindy Ryu leads incumbent Sen. Jesse Salomon according to the latest ballot county issued by the Washington Secretary of State’s Office.
Ryu holds an 3% edge lead over Salomon, 41.56% of the vote to his 38.54% — a difference of exactly 800 votes. Both are still comfortably ahead of Ira McBee, who stands at 19.75% of ballots in the race.
Shoreline City Councilmember Keith Scully (25.31%) and former federal antitrust attorney Danica Noble (23.09%) continue to hold the top two spots in the race for State House Position 1. Lisa Rezac, the only Republican in the race, is close behind with 20.61% of the vote — she trails Noble by 657 votes.
Meanwhile, incumbent State House Rep. Lauren Davis (74.7%) continues to lead her challenger, Imraan Siddiqi (23.08%).
As a reminder, the top two vote-getters in each contest will move on to the November general election ballot. If current results hold, those races would look like:
State Senate, 32nd District:
• Cindy Ryu
• Jesse Salomon (Incumbent)
State House of Representatives, 32nd District, Position 1:
• Danica Noble
• Keith Scully
State House of Representatives, 32nd District, Position 2:
• Lauren Davis (Incumbent)
• Imraan Siddiqi
The results of the primary election will be certified by the Secretary of State, at latest, by Aug. 21.
SnoCo Bump
Ryu and Rezac have little in common politically, but they’re both benefitting from a ballot bonus in the northern territories of the 32nd District.
Snohomish County voters have thus far leaned Ryu’s way — she currently enjoys a lead of more than 800 votes over Salomon, according to Snohomish County’s ballot count, allowing her to overcome his narrow, nine vote edge in King County.
Rezac, of Edmonds, would be leading the race for Ryu’s old seat if the contest was decided only by SnoCo voters; among Snohomish County ballots, Rezac has 24.49% of votes in the 32nd District, followed closely by Noble, with 23.18%. Scully trails in third with 16.53% of the vote — still ahead of Edmonds City Council members Will Chen and Jenna Nand (15.21% and 11.02%, respectively) and Seattle-based engineer Chris Bloomquist (9.50%).
